Chanticleer to Perform at Saint Cecilia Cathedral
May 2, 2008

Called the “world’s reigning male chorus” by the New Yorker magazine, Chanticleer will perform more than 100 concerts in 2007-2008, the GRAMMY Award-winning ensemble’s 30th season. Chanticleer-based in San Francisco-has developed a reputation for its vivid interpretations of vocal literature, from Renaissance to jazz, and from gospel to venturesome new music. With its seamless blend of twelve male voices, ranging from countertenor to bass, the ensemble has earned international renown as “an orchestra of voices”. Chanticleer was founded in 1978 by tenor Louis Botto, who formed the group to sing the neglected music of the medieval and Renaissance periods--the tradition in most churches during the Renaissance was to use only male voices. The group was named for the “clear-singing” rooster in Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.

On May 2, the ensemble will perform My Spirit Sang All Day at Saint Cecilia Cathedral at 8pm. The music will include audience favorites by Byrd, Palestrina, Mahler and others along with arrangements of folk songs, familiar gems and spirituals. This concert is suitable for audiences of all levels of musical sophistication, as the performers often speak to the audience from the stage, giving background and a personal touch to the glorious music they make.

There is limited open free seating to the concert. Guaranteed seats can be purchased at $35.00 and Patron tickets (reserved parking and artist reception following the concert) at $75.00. The Cathedral is located at 701 North 40th Street. For more information and reservations call
402-558-3100 (243).

Chanticleer is presented by the Cathedral Arts Project (CAP), founded in 1985 to promote and celebrate the performing and visual arts through the unique setting of Saint Cecilia’s Cathedral.

Hi Everyone. Well group was very interesting yesterday. I had Sharon H. and me here enjoying all the bagels and muffins all to ourselves. Ha. Anyway, we missed you all. Thought I would up date you on dad. He is going to the doctor tomorrow and of course on the same day I am having a pasta feed for 25 for dinner. So I need prayers tomorrow that I don't pop a cork. Somehow I have to get it all in. Someone died Friday in the unit dad is in, and I had just eaten dinner with her and her son last week. I guess it happens all of the time. A new one moved in and next week two move out as they were given 30 days notice. Mostly because it takes two people to take care of them and when that happens you have to leave. So I have been told that dad has 30 to 60 days at the max. However the nurses yesterday said he has really been good and very easy to work with. Just in time for the doctors visit, and then next week some more med issues.
I sound like my cup is half empty don't I? Enough of that..
Enjoying all the pictures and Cathy you will have to help me learn how to post pictures. That is really cool. I had the grand kids with me for a couple of days last week and that was fun. Has anyone taken their grandkids to Lost in Fun on South 14 out by Wildernest yet?
Well we did on that very wet and cold rainny day.
Love you all.... Jane

It's almost time for Monday

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I had the pleasure of attending Ben and Charlie's microsoccer game. You will notice Ben's picture on the right of the blog page and for some reason, Charlie is at the bottom of the blog twice!! Hey, I never said I was a GOOD blogger, just a willing blogger.
A few updates: Bonnie did have her biopsy and is hoping for good results tomorrow. Jane's dad continues to have a very difficult time, so please keep him in your prayers. Sally, we missed you but hope you had a wonderful time in Chicago. Mary Lou, I can't remember where you were this weekend, but you were missed.
Have a great week.

What an amazing Lady, 92 yrs old!!

Speaking of old ladies, please remember my mom in your prayers. She is having a tough time dealing with her move, tho it IS what she wants. My sisters, Anne and Ginny and her husband are flying in on the 13th of Apr. to pack her up and drive her to Scottsbluff on the 18th to a new Independent Living home, where she will become my oldest sister's responsibility. My mother is very difficult ,as you all know, so I am grateful to not be involved with the move but I am worried about Kathy, in S'bluff, cuz I don't know that she REALLY realizes what she is in for. Mom was in the hospital this week for a couple of days with nothing but "moving disorder" we called it....stress anxiety. She isn't eating or drinking much so is dizzy. They ran every test they could and she checked out fine....physically.
Thanks.

New from JOAN

I am enjoying CA and the sunshine but It hasn't been very warm yet.Yesterday after walking in the park with the lake and lots of trails, with a view of mts all around, with my new friend Jann, My bro-in-laws sister. I knew her,tho not well , in S'bluff. She was a yr ahead of me in school and we were in band together. I don't really remember her at all. Anyway, she is lovely, very strong Christian and we have great conversations while walking...We go about every other day...Then I went to Petaluma where my sister lives, about 20 mi. so. on Hiway 101.It is often cooler ther than here in Santa Rosa...they are closer to the Ocean. Spent a good part og the day in the knit shop getting started on a sweater. Its fun to start that hobby again, after many ,many years of making only scarves :-)Spent the night there cuz we went to a book signing last night at Copperfields, the local bookstore, to hear David sheff, who wrote Beautiful Boy and his son, Nic, who wrote Tweak, talk about their family's story of Meth addiction. It was really good and I can't wait to read the father's book, esp.Any of you heard about it?Last week at the Santa Rosa Copperfields I hear Jodi Picoult talk abou ther latest book AND her next book..not coming out til '09.Gotta run. Jann is coming over for a bit tonight. Miss you all,Love,Joan

Are You Out There??

Hello ladies,
I am hoping that you are all still checking the blog. I realize there are lots of Cabhan pictures so I would like to do a demonstration on how to blog at Peggy's on Saturday morning. I know that some can't make it, but for those that can, be prepared to BLOG!!
Please keep Jane's dad in your prayers. He is having a very difficult time and is undergoing an evaluation for medication and behavioral status.
